Why to never give away ‘free coaching’ (and what to do instead)

There are 3 major mistakes that coaches make when offering their coaching packages to clients - that cause clients to "think about it" - or never sign up at all.

 

Mistake #1: Giving away your coaching "for free." This is probably the most "expensive" mistake that coaches make without even realizing that they're making one. Don't give away coaching, instead take the stance that you're "buying a session" for your prospective client!

 

Mistake #2: Trying to cram everything into one session. Unsuccessful coaches try to impress clients by sharing everything they know in the first session. Pros know better. Great coaches listen for most of the session, then focus on one great insight, and one action step. 

 

Mistake #3: Not valuing your attention and your support. This mistake is a "mindset thing" - but it's the one that really makes the difference. If your client doesn't feel that you really value your time and attention, then they won't either. And this costs you (and them), big time.

REMEMBER: Coaching clients are looking for leadership, and they're looking for guidance, and they're looking for support.

 

Don't unconsciously say to them: "I'm giving this coaching session to you." That's not powerful

 

Instead, the stance is "I'm buying this coaching session for you, it's very expensive and valuable, and worth it."
